A Sunrise Image from Bright Angel Point

Even though I'm in the midst of a major bathroom remodel that has occupied much of my attention, I have been getting up early (around 4:30 or so) to work on some digital paintings. At that time, it's too early for sunlight to illuminate the walls in my bathroom, etc. for successful priming and painting, so I use the time to work on some of my digital paintings from my recent trip. It's a quiet time, before the construction guys get here at 7:30, I can have my latte, have a clear mind and concentrate. This particular painting is based on a photograph that I took while staying at the Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim. I woke up at 4:30, shuffled my sleepy body along the Bright Angel Trail in the dark to wait for the sun to rise. Luckily, only the thinnest layer of wispy clouds hung on the eastern horizon,  gently reflecting the sun so the Grand Canyon was bathed in a soft pink light.
